GUINNESS ADVERTISING The Flying Machine
Titled
From a series of adverts called "Inventions in Guinness Time". A very colourful scene showing Edwina in a perplexed and surprised state, telling her father of her encounter whilst out shopping, with a "queer sort of a kite thing…". The aeroplane passing overhead startles the family and pets in their garden. There is a comical verse that accompanies the illustration. The advert Guinness ref. no. GE 2573 appears at the bottom of the page.
Provenance: From the Illustrated London News, a newspaper founded by Herbert Ingram, with the first edition appearing on 14 May 1842.
