Provenance: The Illustrated London News; Published London 1941. The ILN was an illustrated newspaper, one of the first of its kind, founded by Herbert Ingram with the first edition appearing on 14 May 1842.
Collectable vintage advert. From the Guinness series, number GE954. It shows the 1827 caricature of the Duke of Wellington as a Wellington boot; complete with cocked hat or bicorne with tassles, and spurred boot. Plus a glass stating "Guinness is Good For You".reive.
"Guinness At Waterloo": one of Wellington's officer (according to a diary) was said to have partaken a glass of Guinness and this was said to have contributed to his recovery. "..Guinness today": endorsing Guinness as a healthy tonic for both body and mind, and in the words of a doctor, "a balm to tired and worn out nerves".
The page is dated and numbered on the top border.
