A colourful and very attractive pictorial map. It covers part of Staffordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Swindon, Oxon, Cambs, Northamptonshire, Hunts, Leics, Lincs (part), Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Herts. It stretches from Middlewich, Lincoln and Skegness in the north; down to Chippenham London, and Southend in the South. It features a decorative cartouche and compass; a table of distances in miles. The map is suitable for mounting and framing. It includes a compass rose, and vignettes forming coloured sketches of landmarks and architectural features of places shown along the road. Plus literary quotations from Daniel Defoe, John Ruskin, Washington Irving, Sir Thomas Browne, etc etc.

Provenance info. These maps were originally produced for Pratts Motor Oil Co. which was replaced by Anglo American Oil Co. Ltd. (Esso) in the 1930s; Published by H. K. McCann Co. Ltd 109 Jermyn St London. Date estimated: 1931-36.
Suitable for framing. Landscape format. It measures overall 465x310mm (18.25x12.25") incl. borders; and printed area 385 x 285mm (15.25 x 11.25"). There is an as published centre fold. It is in good condition. It is blank on the reverse apart from a cartouche title. It originally would have been in an atlas, edge mounted so as to avoid damage to the map, and not stapled. The watermarks do NOT appear on the actual map.The map will be packaged in a board backed envelope and sent Royal Mail Large Letter. Postage packing etc is charged at cost.
