Info. The Green Junglefowl, also known as Green Junglefowl, Forktail or Green Javanese Junglefowl - a member of the pheasant family.
Provenance: LLOYD'S Natural History in a series of volumes; Printed by Messrs Wyman & Sons Ltd.
They bear no artist's initials or name unless specifically mentioned in the description, but this series were usually attributed to the author of the various works. They were:
Richard Lydekker - Marsupials, Cats.
Henry Forbes - Monkeys.
W. R. Ogilvie Grant - Birds.
R. Bowdler Sharpe - British Birds.
W. F. Kirby - Butterflies or Entomology.
Chromolithography was a form of colour printing originating in the early Victorian era (19thC) and becoming very popular in the later 1800's.
The print measures overall 180 x 120 mm (7 x 4.75 ") approx. It is blank on the reverse and is suitable for framing. There may be some occasional light foxing (brown spots); small marks - please check the larger picture for condition. There are some slight binding marks to top edge. This item will be shipped flat in a board backed envelope, and protected inside that envelope by a plastic sleeve.
