CONDITION/DIMENSIONS
This is an original USED antique newspaper and not a later re-print. The Illustrated London News was a newspaper founded by Herbert Ingram. The first edition appeared on 14 May 1842 and was the world's first illustrated weekly newspaper.

Six pages (12 sides). It measures 395 x 290 mm (15.5 x 11.25inches). *The spine is loose with binding witness marks where once bound (see above). The first couple of pages are cropped close to top border headings/date (see scan) but do not affect the content. There is age yellowing to the pages. The pages are loose. The pages have minor cuts, tears and blemishes due to their age. The engravings vary in size. Any watermarks on images are for display only and not on the original engravings. This item will be packaged in a tube unless otherwise requested.

PLEASE NOTE: I cannot guarantee that the issue is complete 'as published' - but what I have described above IS present but if you're looking for something in particular PLEASE ASK. If you require information on the size of articles (i.e. number of words) or images, please ask before bidding or buying. There are no colour images unless otherwise stated. The page numbering in the Illustrated London News carries on from the previous issue and do not start at number 1.

The descriptive text in my listing details the content in my words and not necessarily what's written on the original page. "Info." in the description is my research and relevant to the accompanying image or article, although not necessarily in the text/article. This item will be packaged in a tube and sent by Royal Mail Small Parcels, or International Standard Parcel; this is NOT a tracked service; if you require tracking please contact for prices).

All text descriptions etc. in my listings are protected through copyright law, and have been electronically and invisibly coded. Reproduction, in whole or part, without permission is a transgression of copyright.
