Beautiful antique lithographic print of LOWESWATER or Lowes Water in the Lake District of England.

A 1859 print titled:

A superb rainbow lit view of Loweswater, Holme woods I think, can be seen, and the imposing Mellbreak looming large at the head of the lake, with what may be the Kirkstile Inn gleaming white off to the right.

ARTIST/ENGRAVER: Thomas Picken (lithographer) from the drawings by J. B. Pyne (James Baker Pyne b. Bristol 1800 - d. 1870).

PROVENANCE: Lake Scenery of England by J. B. Pyne. Publisher: Day & Son, Gate St. Lincoln's Inn Fields. 1859.
There is a page of descriptive text that accompanied each scene, and I presume that these came from this book. Printed at the foot of each print (in the border), is the artists and lithographers names, and the plate number.

It is on good quality heavy gauge paper with a blank reverse, and is suitable for framing. It measures 220 x 150 mm (8.5 x 6 inches) approx. plus borders. There is age yellowing which is a feature of items of great age and there is scattered but light, brown spotting (foxing). Please check the larger picture for condition. This item will be shipped flat in a board backed envelope, and protected inside that envelope by a plastic sleeve.
