Titled: Proposed Tunnel Between England and France
It shows two engravings detailing the scheme proposed by M. A. Thome de Gamond the French Engineer. Title: Chart Showing the Proposed Submarine Tunnel Between England and France, and It's Connection with The English and French Railways. A map showing both sides of the channel and the various routes it could take at Dover, Folkstone, Cape Dungeness etc. And in France at Calais, C, Blanc Nez, Boulogne, Cape Dalpreon etc. Also with the connecting railway routes.
Also a diagram titled: Geological Section, Showing the Proposed Submarine Tunnel Between England and France, by M. A .Thome de Gamond. This shows a sectional diagram of the various layers of strata etc - the routes of the tunnel - stations at both ends etc. with scale of the heights; and also lengths.
There is an article that continues onto the reverse of the page. The article mentions M Thome de Gamond the French Civil Engineer - M. Combes, Professor of Mining Engineering - M. Elie de Beaumont - M. Renaud - M. Keller Hydrographic Engineer - M. Rouher - plus estimated costs etc.

Provenance: From an issue ofThe Illustrated London News; Published London 1858. The ILN was a newspaper founded by Herbert Ingram, with the first edition appearing on 14 May 1842.
The full page measures overall 400x275 mm (14.25 x 10.75") approx. including borders. It is printed on both sides. There is a little age yellowing; please check the picture(s) for condition. "Info." in the description is my research, although relevant to the accompanying image or article, is not necessarily in the text.
