Info. The ancestral home of the Charlton family. They were originally a border reiver family and have resided continuously in this house since 1346. The house and grounds are located in the Northumberland National Park. sleekburnc.
Provenance: Originally produced for Views of the Seats of Noblemen, and Gentlemen, in England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland Vol. II. London; Published by Sherwood, Jones and Co. Paternoster Row; 1825 (this particular engraving was published in a later edition, hence the circa 1850). sleekburnc.
Suitable for framing. The print measures overall 205 x 130 mm ( 8 x 5 ") approximately, on good quality grade paper/card, with a blank reverse. There is a some age yellowing with handling marks to the edges, please refer to images. This item will be packaged inside a protective plastic sleeve inside a board backed envelope. "Info." in the description is my research, although relevant to the accompanying image or article, is not necessarily in the text.
My use of the term "an original print/illustration" is a pictorial image made in a manner which allows it to be multiplied, and originating from the date stated. This includes examples of various methods of printmaking including engravings, etchings, woodcut etc. Many prints would have been originally bound in a book at some time as was this one.
