It comes with a page of poetry (part of the tale of Hudibras). Hudibras is a satirical poem written by Samuel Butler re. Roundheads, Puritans, Presbyterians and many of the other factions involved in the English Civil War.
This is an original print from engraving as the date states, and not a later reproduction.
Printmaking Method: Steel Engraving.
Provenance: The Works of William Hogarth by Rev. John Trusler; Published by E. T. Brain &Co. 88 Fleet Street, London. circa 1850.
Suitable for framing. The print measures overall approximately 270 x 200 mm (or 10.5 x 8 inches) including good borders. It is blank on the reverse. There is some age yellowing and some spotting - please check the larger picture for condition.This item will be shipped flat in a board backed envelope.
