1834 hand coloured print from engraving, from the date stated and not a later reproduction showing birds, and or bird parts, with common and scientific names beneath. They include: Ardea ciconia (WHITE STORK) - Mycteria americanus (AMERICAN JABIRU) - Ardea Major COMMON HERON (I think it should be a GREAT Heron).

Provenance: The Animal Kingdom, Natural History of Animals with Introduction by Baron Cuvier, With Figures Designed After Nature by M. Latreille (Pierre André Latreille), Chevalier of the Legion of Honour etc; Published by G. Henderson 2 Old Bailey, Ludgate Hill, London 1834. 

Pierre André Latreille (1762 – 1833) was a French zoologist who documented work and important papers for the Mémoires du Muséum, and entries in the Nouveau Dictionnaire d'Histoire Naturelle on entomological subjects. Jean Léopold Nicolas Frédéric Cuvier born Montbéliard 1769–1832 aka Georges Cuvier, was a French naturalist and zoologist.

 

It measures overall 218 x 128 mm ( 8.5 x 5 inches) approximately including titled borders. There is a little age yellowing and marks. It is blank on the reverse. Please check the larger picture for condition.This item will be shipped flat in a board backed envelope, and protected inside that envelope by a plastic sleeve.
